Surgery Update 1

Well, here we go. We arrived at Prmary Children's Hospital at 6:45 a.m. Emma was a little trooper. She hadn't eaten since last night, but was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as we got her checked in and waited to be taken back. Dr. Kaza, the surgeon, came out to the waiting room to greet us. Amy jokingly asked him if he was feeling good. He smiled and assured us that he was at the top of his game and ready to go.

They took us back to an exam room around 7:20 where we met with a nurse practitioner and the anesthesiologist, afterwhich we had about 15 minutes or so to spend with Emma before they were ready for her.

At 8:00 the anesthesiologist came in again and said they were ready. We followed him down the hall, and eventually came to that dreaded door where we had to say our goodbyes and watch as he walked away with her.

Amy and I then stood in the hall and had our "moment", and finally made our way into the waiting area. We've set up camp in a cozy little corner, and here we wait.
