Oh the things kids say!

On Sunday night, I went into Triston's room at 2 am to tuck him in and check on him. He said, "Mom, do you want to know something special?" I told him that I did, he said "Heavenly Father made me just for you."

The only way to see the 24th of July Parade!

We went to the 24th of July float preview show for the first time this year. It was one of those times you hear about something on the radio, give it a whirl and love it. Admission was free and there were several great balloon artists and face painters. Seeing the floats up close was fun, and we didn't have to stand in crowds in the heat as they went by. Triston was feeling pretty smug about having a sword and holster and loved his pirate face paint. Emma loved all the bright, sparkly colors and moving parts on all the floats. We got to vote for our favorite floats and then watch the parade on tv and see if our favorites won. The groups that create the floats are amazing, it looks like a ton of effort goes into all the floats.

Mick Shannon wins City Council Seat in Herriman!!!

A huge congratulations to my my Dad for winning the City Council seat in Herriman! He worked hard and deserved the win. As one of the founders of Children's Miracle Network, Mick spent his entire career fighting to build an organization that would help to save and improve the lives of millions of children around the world. We are grateful that his work has come full circle and now benefits our little daughter Emma!

Water Fun

Triston has been a fish in water from day one. He loves cold wet water! I love watching his pure joy when he is playing. Oh to be a kid again! These are the moments I live for. They remind me that I need to be a kid, enjoy the simple things in life.

Chrildren's Miracle Network Lagoon Day

Each year employee's of Children's Miracle Network get to go to Lagoon for a day. Triston and Dave like to ride the rides that go round and round, not me man!
My cute little sis, Sheridan is riding the Samurai, she is the furthest left. We had fun!

Emma's Cardiology Visit

Emma had a follow-up appointment with her cardiologist on Friday, and she did great! It's funny how Primary Children's Medical Center just feels like a second home to us now. We learned that Emma's heart is a little enlarged, but that this is to be expected, given the situation with her pulmonary valve, and is nothing to worry about for now. As we have mentioned previously, she will need another surgery to replace her valve, and the cardiologist says this will most likely occur within five to seven years (although we're still holding out hope that we can wait until she is full grown). Everything else looks good for now, and she is to be treated like the cute and healthy little girl that she is, with no restrictions. We won't have to have another appointment for a whole year!

On a related note, we were thrilled to learn that Emma's doctor will be the director of a new pediatric cardiology clinic they are opening at the new Intermountain Hospital in Riverton. This is only about five minutes from our home, versus the 45 minutes (or 90 minutes, depending on time of day) that we currently drive up to Primary. He will split his time between Primary and the new clinic in Riverton.

My silly boy!

I took Triston to the Doctor for the flu vaccine today. Our great nurse was ready to give him the nose mist, but he opted for a shot. We explained that the mist wouldn't hurt but the shot would hurt for a minute. He insisted on he shot and promised our nurse that he wouldn't get mad at her. We got in the room and I asked if he was getting the shot just to get a band aid. A big grin stole across his face, and he said "yes." Ironically the band aid was gone by the time I picked him up from school. I love my funny boy.

Swimming Fun

Both our kiddo's love to swim! Triston has been like a fish in water from day one. Sometimes I wish he had more fear of the dangers, but we just watch him very carefully. I knew Emma would love the water when as soon as she could sit up in the bath tub I started walking away from every bath soaking wet from her splashes. Once we set her loose in the pool, she loved every minute of it.

Picture Happy!

We are nothing if not picture happy around here. I think it is my desperate attempt to hang on to every precious moment. Not a day goes by that I don't realize how blessed I am. Everyday is amazing, I love having Triston crawl into bed to cuddle first thing in the morning. I love going into Emma's room to a happy squealing jumping baby. Most of all I love them, every inch of them at each stage. It goes so quickly, but I am hanging on and enjoying the ride.

4th of July in Pictures

A cousin pin-wheel!

Grandma and Grandpa!

This is one of those pictures that just make me marvel at my boy. (My blog, my brag!)

Poor Baby! At least we always know what she is feeling!

Cool Cousins!

Emma's First Fireworks! Please note, I only had the tacky blue nails one day! I was feeling a little too festive!

Baby Kisses are the best!

Some of our favorite friends from our days in Illinois

We were so glad to see the Davis clan, even if we didn't get to see all of them. Kendrick and Triston were friends as toddlers, looks like nothing has changed!

Our Little All-Star

We had a lot of fun with little league baseball this year. Triston had a great team and wonderful coaches. He improved so much over the course of the season, and we were proud to see him hitting the ball and scoring by the end of the season. He even stopped sitting down in the outfield! :) He's already looking forward to next year.

Our Day at the Zoo!

Primary Children's has an annual evening at the Zoo. This year it was exactly one month after Emma's heart surgery. We had a great time! (Triston is checking out a hissing cockroach.)

Chick-fil-a provided a dinner and there was face painting. Triston liked the Tiger and Emma loved the hyper little monkeys jumping around.

We always stop by the Gorilla's enclosure to see how our gorillas are measuring up. Scary resemblance huh!

Soccer 2009

This was Triston's last season of Soccer for now. We loved our team and had a blast, but I don't want to overcommit a 7-year-old and he was really loving baseball, starting swimming and piano, and flag football.
