Emma's Cardiology Visit

Emma had a follow-up appointment with her cardiologist on Friday, and she did great! It's funny how Primary Children's Medical Center just feels like a second home to us now. We learned that Emma's heart is a little enlarged, but that this is to be expected, given the situation with her pulmonary valve, and is nothing to worry about for now. As we have mentioned previously, she will need another surgery to replace her valve, and the cardiologist says this will most likely occur within five to seven years (although we're still holding out hope that we can wait until she is full grown). Everything else looks good for now, and she is to be treated like the cute and healthy little girl that she is, with no restrictions. We won't have to have another appointment for a whole year!

On a related note, we were thrilled to learn that Emma's doctor will be the director of a new pediatric cardiology clinic they are opening at the new Intermountain Hospital in Riverton. This is only about five minutes from our home, versus the 45 minutes (or 90 minutes, depending on time of day) that we currently drive up to Primary. He will split his time between Primary and the new clinic in Riverton.
